Customer Service Clerk – City of Chattahoochee
Compensation: $25,000-$32,000 annually (dependent on relevant qualifications and job experience) plus FRS retirement package, very generous sick and vacation time accrual benefit, as well as, 100% employer paid CHP health insurance package.

Receives cash from customers for services and responds to citizen inquiries by performing the essential duties listed below. Work is performed under general supervision with review to insure conformance with prescribed policies, procedures and common practices. Work may also be reviewed through reports, feedback from customers and observations of results obtained. The Customer Service Representative reports directly to the City Clerk/CFO.
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT JOB DUTIES
Processes new accounts and/or transfers old accounts. Serves as cashier and used computer to access customer accounts for inquiries. Sorts, posts, and lists mail and night drop items. Collects fees for all utility services (water, sewer, gas, electric, security lights). Assist with editing, creating, computing, and printing of utility bills and billing reports. Receives and processes customer service requests or complaints by telephone and in person, including various types of work orders or billing information. Dispatches work crews as warranted to service work orders. Assists with monthly cut-off listing. Assists with daily transactions, balances cash register, posts to financial reporting, assists with preparation of bank deposits, creates backup files. Monitors work orders for reconnection and disconnection of accounts, insuring that computer records are complete and up to date. Performs other duties as assigned. Interacts with other City departments, external agencies, City employees and citizens as necessary in the performance of job duties and provides customer support services consistent with organizational values and department standards.

Must have good knowledge of basic mathematics. The ability to communicate effectively and in a courteous manner with the general public. The ability to understand and implement technical oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of and the ability to operate standard office machines. Must be able to handle cashier duties with some basic knowledge and skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
Minimum Training and Experience
Possession of a high school diploma or the equivalent and at least two (2) years of customer service experience.
