Workshop overview
In this Level 2 workshop participants build on the foundation created in Level I.  Level II study is designed to accommodate technicians with a minimum of one year of line design experience. Level 1 certification is recommended before entering the Level II program. After completion of this course, participants will be able to complete the layout and design of most overhead and underground projects, understand and utilize NESC and other design criteria, evaluate and design joint use facilities, and calculate the mechanical loading effects of line design.

Other topics of this level of study include:

  • Intermediate NESC requirements, including underground 
  • Design standards and criteria        
  • Multi-phase pole line design  
  • Basic underground line design       
  • Permitting requirements
  • Underground transformer setup and loading
  • Joint use considerations
  • Use of advanced power system components

Engineer Technicians, Engineers, Stakers, Journeymen Linemen, Line Construction personnel, Design Engineers

Registration fee (Includes lunches)
$1,200 per person for FMEA utility and associate members
$1,300 per person for non-members
